Solid Waste News. . .

We are now six months into our contract with Town and Country Disposal.  For the most part, all comments are positive, but we need to reiterate some points which we spelled out when the contract began…

·          As of 6/15, All yard waste must be in the brown paper yard waste bags or 35 gallon barrels.  Brush and branches must be securely bundled and must not exceed 4 ft in length and 2 ft in width.  PLASTIC BAGS OF YARD WASTE WILL NOT BE PICKED UP.  A flyer will be left with the plastic bags.  Yard waste materials are grass clippings, weeds, leaves and branch clippings.

·         In lieu of the annual city-wide Large Item Pick-up, you may place “one large item” (excluding appliances) out each week.  We encourage you to call Town and Country when you have an extra large item or if you need to put out more than one item so appropriate arrangements can be made.  Items considered to be “large” or “bulk” items include: mattress, box springs, carpet padding (one room or less carpet and must be cut in 4 ft lengths and rolled up).

·          Appliances will be collected at the price of $15 per item when prior arrangements have been  made.  Microwaves and TV's will be collected with household trash.

·          Curbside recycling is available—Call Town and Country for recycle bins to be delivered.

As always, you may call Town and Country Disposal with questions or concerns.  Their number is (816) 380-5595 and is not a long distance phone call.
