Residential Trash Service
PICK UP OF HOUSEHOLD WASTE All household trash is to be placed in the provided green Town & Country trash container with the lid or in a tied approved trash bag (not exceeding 65lbs in weight) to prevent trash from blowing as described in Article 1 sec. 15-104. Household trash not suitable to be put in a container must be neatly bundled and placed next to trash container. Boxes are recyclable and should be broken down flat and put with your recycling. PICK UP DAY Trash, Yard Waste and Recycling will be collected weekly. Click for map of Roeland Park divided into collection days. PICK UP TIME Trash must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. for collection. (City Code - Items are not to be placed out at the curb sooner than 12 hours prior to the day of collection as described in (Article 1 sec.15-106-d). All containers must be returned to storage by midnight the same day of collection as described in (Article 1, Section 15-104). Residents physically unable to bring trash to curb may call City Hall and make special arrangements for collection of trash and recycling. Town and Country Disposal works all holiday, so please have your trash out by 7:00 am for collection. (Trucks tend to run a little earlier on holidays) Yard waste is to be placed in approved paper yard waste recycling bag or plastic drum with a yard waste sticker attached. Brush and branches must be securely bundled. Each bundle must not exceed 4 feet in length and 2 feet in thickness. Small twigs can be put directly in your Yard bags. Yard waste materials are: Grass clippings, Weeds, and Leaves. Yard waste is to be put on the opposite side of your driveway as your trash container on your collection day. Yard Waste bags may not exceed 65 lbs. in weight. Yard Waste Stickers are available at City Hall. After discussions with Town & County,
you will be allowed to put grass clippings and leaves in a
separate trash can - only if you apply the sticker below to
the side of the can. One bulk item per week can be put out with your household trash for collection (excluding appliances). Residents that have more than one bulk item per week can make collection arrangements with Town and Country Disposal prior to collection day. Additional cost may apply, payment is due upon collection. Items considered bulk items: Large furniture, Mattress, Box Springs, Carpet /Padding (One room or less carpet must be cut in to 4 foot lengths and rolled up). Appliances will be collected at the price of $15.00 per item. Arrangements must be made with Town and Country Disposal for collection. Payment is due upon collection. Appliances are Washer, Dryer, Stove, Refrigerator, Hot Water Heater, AC Unit, Furnace and Dishwasher. Microwave and TV excluded and will be collected with household trash. Recycling
CURBSIDE RECYCLING Town and Country Disposal will provide a recycling bin to those who wish to recycle. Please contact our office with your address and a bin will be delivered. A pamphlet will be given to you on guidelines and products accepted when a bin is delivered. Glass is not accepted by Town & Country however there is a Ripple Glass recycling container at the Lowe's parking lot in Bella Roe Plaza. Boxes are recyclable and should be broken down flat and put with your recycling. (Revised Recycling brochure coming soon)Don't know what to do with your old trash container - Use it as a recycling bin. Come to City Hall for a Recycle Sticker to place on your old bin and use it for all those recycled items. Drop-off locations GLASS RecyclingYou can finally recycle those empty glass containers! A Ripple Glass bin was placed in the Lowe's parking lot at the Bella Roe Shopping Center. There are several options for safely
disposing of used Compact Fluorescent Bulbs
(CFL's). Home Depot has just announced
that they will begin accepting used CFL's at the
return desk of all Home Depot stores.
Alternatively residents can contact Johnson
County Hazardous waste to make an appointment to
drop off their used CFL's. Their number is
913-715-6900.
E-Waste Drop-off
Johnson County's Hazardous Waste department will accept electronic waste on the second Saturday of each month through the end of October by appointment only from 8:00 am - 11:30 am. To make an appointment call 913-715-6900.
