The City of Roeland Park partnering with Johnson County through the County Assistance Roads Program (CARS), is performing curb repairs, full depth patches and restriping on Roe Boulevard.Recently, due to the shift of work to the outside lanes of Roe Boulevard, there are often times when only one lane is open during this construction period.  The City has worked with the construction project manager on site and confirmed that the contractor is only blocking off the section of lanes needed to complete the controlling item of work.

Since, this is a project that is concentrating on repair of bad sections of concrete curbs and sidewalks, large sections of Roe Boulevard need to be blocked off at a time to complete the concrete pours.  The configuration of lanes blocked change daily and sometimes hourly due to the scope of the project.  There has been some discussion of additional signage, however, since lane configurations are constantly changing, additional signage is not feasible.

The contractor and project manager are doing everything possible to keep the flow of traffic on Roe Boulevard as smooth as possible.  This work will allow for a safer Roe Boulevard for years into the future.  Construction work is expected to conclude by November 30, 2012.
