Purpose: The purpose of the Environmental Sustainability Committee is to make recommendations to the Governing Body concerning issues relating to or affecting environmental sustainability.
Members: Not less than nine members. All of the members shall be nominated by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. The terms of all members shall be for one year beginning January 1 of each year. In the event a vacancy should occur during the term of any member, his or her successor shall be appointed in the same manner for the unexpired portion of the term. There is no limitation on the number of times an individual may be re-appointed. Any member of the Committee may be removed at any time by a majority vote of the City Council. Neither the Committee nor any individual members shall have any authority to financially obligate, commit or contract on behalf of the City. The Mayor shall also appoint two members of the City Council to serve as ex-officio members of the Committee for a one-year term.
