Councilmember Megan England

Ward 3 - Term Expires April 2011

Megan England was elected to the Council in April 2007.

Councilmember England currently serves on the Safety Committee, the Arts Committee, as Co-Chair of the Parks and Trees Advisory Committee, and as Chair of the Sustainability Task Force.

Things that are most important to Councilmember England as a member of the City Council are the preservation of green space and parks in our neighborhoods, implementation of sustainable environmental practices within the community, and ensuring that her neighbors and community have an active role in City decisions.

Megan is employed at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, where she is the buyer and manager of the Museum Shop.

Megan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art from Baker University in Baldwin City, KS where she acted as Director of the Art Affair Gallery and was a member of the Baldwin City Chamber of Commerce.  She also attended Harlaxton University in Grantham England as well as Butler County Community College where she acted as Student Body President and Junior Ambassador to the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce.

She and her husband, Matt, have lived in Roeland Park since 2003, and have played active roles in the community by serving as Board Members of the Roe Manor Heights Neighborhood Committee and as active participants in the 2006 Roeland Park Comprehensive Plan Process. Matt England, CPA, was appointed as Treasurer for the City of Roeland Park in 2006.

Megan and Matt actively support the efforts of Cross-Lines Community Outreach.  Megan also enjoys visiting galleries, traveling, live music and spending time with her family and collie dog, Sunny.
