Ward 1 Councilmember: Becky Fast
Current Term: April 2015 – April 2019
Becky Fast was elected in a special election in 2012 and quickly assumed the leadership role as the Chair of the Finance Committee. After her re-election in 2015, she was elected to Council President. In addition, she serves as the Chair of the Public Works Committee. Last year, Becky was appointed to the National League of Cities Human Development and Health Services Policy Committee. As City Councilor, she has served as the representative to Mid-America Regional First Tier Suburbs Coalition and Johnson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for the city’s aquatic center and community center.
Becky has a long history of public service and commitment to her community. She is a graduate of the 2013 Northeast Johnson County Chamber Leadership training program and Roeland Park Citizen Academy. She was appointed by the Johnson County Commission to the Affordable Housing Taskforce and Drug and Alcoholism Council.
She graduated with honors with a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas. After graduation, Becky served as a manager for public policy research at the University of Kansas. Recently, she served as an aide to former U.S. Congressman Dennis Moore. In that role, she helped the City of Roeland Park access $1.25 million in Federal funds to improve the city’s storm water system. Currently, Becky is an adjunct faculty at Washburn University.
