Committees

Roeland Park currently has five active committees. If you are interested in being a part of any of these committees please complete the Committee Volunteers Application. If you have any questions about service on one of these committees call City Hall at 913.722.2600.

Arts Committee

  • Purpose: To make decisions on art programs, for the City of Roeland Park.
  • Members: at the minimum 3
  • Term: 1 year beginning January 1st of each year.
  • Meetings: 3rd Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Roeland Park City Hall unless otherwise noted on calendar.

Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA)

  • Purpose: To receive, hear, and decide appeals to official decisions pertaining to zoning requirements.
  • Members: 5
  • Term: 3 years beginning Jan 1 of each year.
  • Meetings: as needed

Parks Committee

  • Purpose: To make recommendations to the Governing Body concerning City owned parks and parkland.
  • Members: 7 individuals, of which at least six shall be residents of the City.
  • Term: 1 year beginning January 1st of each year.
  • Meetings: 2nd Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Roeland Park City Hall unless otherwise noted on calendar.

Planning Commission

  • Purpose: To adopt and amend regulations governing subdivisions; to approve plats and recommend zoning changes.
  • Members: 7
  • Term: 3 years
  • Meetings: 3rd Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., City Hall, Council Chamber

Sustainability Committee

  • Purpose:   The purpose of the Environmental Sustainability Committee is to make recommendations to the Governing Body concerning issues relating to or affecting environmental sustainability.
  • Members:  7
  • Term: 1 year beginning January 1st of each year.
  • Meetings: 1st Wednesday, 6:00 p.m., City Hall, Council Chamber
