Bio

I work with concrete, steel, and glass—materials normally thought of as humble, or mundane and overworked. By molding, forming, and then destroying my sculpture, I give them an aged look and a soul. I change the concrete and the way it and the work of man is perceived.

My work grows from my interests in geology, the archaeological dig, and the work ethic of ancient times. I use industrial materials to create what I feel are fossils of our industrial culture, but also fossils that are infused with a sense of belonging in the natural world, as though I were a time traveler bringing back remnants of this society from where they would have fallen in our future.

Change is important. When you look at a sculpture one day and return to it another, you may find yourself engaged by it in a different way. It changes with the attitude and approach of the viewer. Also, it changes with its environment: with light, season, rain. My sculptures will also slowly evolve, rust bleeding lines into porous concrete, or a work settling on a wooden base. They will be maturing, still, after I am gone.
