Blue Plant
My work is primarily concerned with the translation of graphic
illustration through sculptural media. The focus of this approach is to
establish an obvious autonomy for each artwork using the conventions of
abstraction and significant form. These conventions are executed by way
of material manipulation, congruent color relationships, and the
utilization of structural anomalies so the my process is evident.
The installation of "Blue Plant" is relatively simple in that it is a
freestanding sculpture and requires simple U-hooks to secure its
position. However, for purposes of visibility, a 3x 1 ft. concrete base
might benefit the presentation. Ideally, the sculpture should be
displayed in an open field or a road median.
Bio
I am Zachary Meyer. I am from a rural area of Illinois in a town called Payson. I lived there until the age of twenty, and after completing an associates degree in liberal arts at John Wood Community College, I moved to Kansas City in 2003 to attend and complete a bachelors degree in sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute. My long term plans as an artist are focused on large-scale public works as well as illustrating for film, graphic novels, and toy design.
