While on vacation in his hometown of
Waterloo New York, Steve and his brother Mike were up late discussing
the annual "Carp Derby" which was to start the next day. The prize for
the derby was a whopping $500.00. This inspired a brainstorming session
which resulted in a gag entry of a "fake carp". The brothers combined
their talents and created the biggest carp the town had even seen. A
quick trip to tool shed and the local store resulted in the construction
of "King Carp". They laughed as they discussed and imagined the town's
reaction when they saw what appeared to be a 100 pound carp.
The end result was a carp so realistic
that it fooled even the most seasoned of anglers.
Steve so enjoyed the reactions to "King Carp" that
he was inspired to create the biggest fish in the Midwest, "Basszilla"
Again making his tool shed and a trip to the local hardware store; He
began construction of "Basszilla" in the spring of 2007.
Steve completed the project a few
short months later. "Basszilla" has never been officially displayed, not
many people have randomly stopped in his driveway to see the monstrous
fish. It has also been the topic
of many early morning conversations at the local diner. Steve's greatest
wish is that you enjoy "Basszilla", but warns to be on the lookout for
the greatest gobbler of them all… "King Strut"
