Major improvements are scheduled for Roe Boulevard starting in 2020 with planning and design starting now. The project will add to the existing parkway design and art lined streetscape with unique lighting and signalization, also adding more street trees and pedestrian walkways. The project will replace deficient pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, medians and stormwater infrastructure.
Traffic signals will be enhanced with emergency vehicle controllers for all first responders. The traffic light enhancements will hopefully help to reduce the amount of traffic accidents at major interesections of Roe Blvd. The project will add an entrace from Roe Boulevard to Roe Parkway which is home to several industrial businesses and future development on The Rocks site where the old municipal pool sat.
The project will also improve safety at pedestrian crossings so all pedestrian traffic can use Roe Blvd. and feel safe to walk along and cross the street.

The City will also use funds from two different TIF districts encompassing portions of the project as work is completed in those areas to the tune of $1.35 million. The balance of $143 thousand will come from the City’s 1/2 cent sales tax for street and roadway improvements.
