July 12th Update from Libby Scarborough: “For my latest progress report, let me start with the good news, the strength training room is about 90% complete and we will be reopening that portion of the facility tomorrow, July 13th! The rubber flooring is reinstalled and the equipment is back in place – with a few tweaks. It will be necessary to close the strength training portion one more time when the materials for the entry ways, baseboards and the perimeter of the room arrive for install. We hope that closure won’t be more than a day or so but we’ll need to wait for further direction from the contractor to be sure.
In other news, we were informed earlier this week that the flooring materials for the cardio room have been delayed and will not arrive at the center until next week. Once they arrive the contractor will be making room in their schedule to install everything and get us back up and running as soon as possible. We can’t wait!
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you for our limited opening later this week!”
Johnson County Park & Recreation District
Roeland Park Community Center
- We are working with another Johnson County Park and Recreation District facility in order to allow access at that location for all of our displaced members. The Mill Creek Activity Center (6518 Vista Drive, Shawnee) will honor the memberships of all Roeland Park Community Center fitness members until we are able to reopen. If you’d like to utilize that facility while we are under construction we encourage you to do so. Staff there have asked that we provide them a list of members who will be using this option. If you plan to visit Mill Creek in any capacity please call 913-826-3160 or reply to this email so we may make them aware.
