WCA, in conjunction with Rehrig Pacific Company, will install RFID technology into every trash and recycling cart in Roeland Park. The installation process will occur on your regular collection day during the week of either October 30, November 6 or November 13. RFID installation teams will follow trash and recycling trucks, and carts that have been equipped with RFID technology will be marked with new WCA stickers. Please leave your trash carts, recycling carts and recycling bins at the curb through 6 pm on your regular collection day to afford our installers ample opportunity to complete the installation. Customers who have been using a recycling bin will receive a 65-gallon recycling cart. Residents can contact customer service at the number or web address below to request a smaller, 48-gallon cart. Recycling bins will be left for your personal use, but we ask that recycling materials be placed at the curb in the cart not the blue bin.
Once the RFID chips are installed, company staff and city officials will be able to verify that weekly routes are completed and all homes have been serviced. The use of RFID-enabled carts is the key to our service delivery and accountability enhancements.
Additionally, WCA has launched a new website that will make it easier for customers to contact us with any questions, comments, service requests of related issues. Please visit wcawaste.com/roeland-park for holiday schedules, a list or acceptable materials and other information. Customer service personnel can still be reached by calling (816) 380-5595.
